Mr. Miles Martinez: Congratulations on your first win of 2020 Rytech of the Midlands (SC). And…thanks for representing Team RYTECH in such a phenomenal manner!
He’s relatively new to water and mold remediation, but…Miles Martinez catches on fast. Twenty six months ago, at age 28, he was managing a restaurant at night. That was usually after having worked all day for an arborist (tree trimming service). Daytime was dangerous work; nighttime was long hours. And, together little time was left for family, wife Brianna and two young sons Wyatt and Wesley.
Nor are the same talents required trimming trees as supervising food service. None the less, the latter proved a perfect entrée (pun intended) to a career with a growing concern like Rytech.
While overseeing the kitchen, the wait staff, and ultimately learning that the restaurant business may not fit his family orientation, Miles would occasionally chat with the diners, especially the family of local Rytech franchise owner, Brian Larmon.
Brian and his partner Anthony Curtis, owners of Rytech of the Midlands, were featured in a previous Dry Log Article as a franchise experiencing remarkable growth and the usual pains that accompany it.
Casual dinner conversations drifted to Rytech, its’ growth, the opportunities and it’s need for more technicians. Miles talked to Brianna then talked to the Midlands and the rest, as they say, is history.
“There are several reasons I like working at Rytech” Miles explains. “First, they’re a great bunch of guys. Second, I like the feeling of looking after customers and especially seeing their reaction when they’re rescued from a bad water loss.”
Miles believes working with an adjuster and pleasing the carrier when there’s a “complicated demolition” are not just challenging activities but are among the most important onsite aspects of the job–along with pleasing the homeowner or business client.
Each remediation is different he observes, but mostly it’s due to the size of the job, number of floors and the type and extent of damage. “They all have their quirks” Miles says. And, just like the restaurant business, handling those quirks usually means going the extra mile.
As for his new bosses Miles is pretty direct: “one thing I can say is, they are very dedicated and hard-working and always looking after all the employees.”
Congratulations to Miles Martinez, Ryte-Tech Winner May 2020!
